Why do we want to build a new library in Milan?
Current building is too small. No meeting room space. No room for growth.
Check out the floor and site plans below.
Help us build a new Milan Branch Library!
How can you help?
- Write letters of support to the library. State why you think we need a new library in Milan.
History of Milan Branch library
In 2000 the town of Milan and Franklin and Washington townships joined the Osgood Public Library District. In 2002 a branch library opened in downtown Milan. This library is located in the former Fifth-Third bank building which was donated to the library. Also in 2002 Mabel Lamb, a retired school teacher, donated property to build a new library in Milan.
What do we envision for a new library?
Space! Meeting Room, workspace, space for more books! Children's area.
Although nothing is set in stone... here are the first drawings for the building.

What will this project cost?
Total project costs are just over $1.5 million dollars.
The library has submitted a Community Focus Fund grant for $500,000.
The library has been awarded a Rising Sun Regional Foundation grant for $50,000.
This leaves around $1 million dollars to raise in bond funds.
What will this cost ME?
An example of costs for this bond:
$100,000 home
Additional tax of under $13 a year.
What a bargain!
